Another Uh Huh Her

I’m a HUGE fan of PJ Harvey. When I heard that Leisha’s and Camila’s band name was going to be “Uh Huh Her”, I have to admit, I shivered. Big time.

Uh Huh Her

According to the band, “that’s where the borrowing begins and ends”, so months later, I’ve decided to give them a second chance (haha) and check their music, forgetting about PJ’s song for a moment. Just a moment.

And they own it!

The Lesbian and The Dress

Yesterday I was a woman in a mission. The objective was to find a dress, a DRESS (!!) for an upscale black-tie wedding this Saturday in Donald’s Trump hotel. F*ck.

As trying out the dress inside Macy’s fitting room, a sudden feeling invaded my soul. The feeling, I can describe, was like I was betraying myself and insulting who I was. Amazing.

Shane and the dress

I’m a 29 years old lesbian and I was never a butch and, until yesterday, I was comfortable being a femme and giving the good news to all the guys that hit on me. It is always crazy fun seeing their faces after the “Dude, I’m gay” act I love to perform every now and them.

Madonna and the big tube that sucks air

The last thing I expected to see Madonna doing. She just can’t stop surprising everyone. It is stronger than her.

What lesbians drink besides beer?

So lesbian do like to drink, duhh. But besides beer that usually fills the role of the lesbian alcohol fix of the week, what kind of hard liquor has been rocking our parties lately? When you think alcohol, what comes to you mind? (Besides drama and wrong hook-ups in the bathroom?)

This is how I see drinks. They have personality.

Scully and Reyes

Shots are for though chicks with no time to waste
Ex: Tequila body shots anyone? Tequila rose is awesome to impress straight chicks, ‘cause it’s pink.

What Scully did with Reyes?

Patience is virtue I lack. I’ve been waiting silently all this time and, finally, I have schedule a date with the most encrypted and intriguing FBI agent of all times. On July 25th, it is all back.

Scully and Reyes

Yeah, we all know the X Files is about fighting a conspiracy to undercover the presence of extraterrestrial and the genetic experiments to create alien-human hybrids. All that and 300 others amazing and complex crossed twisted related plots, but for me, it was always about Agent Scully and her being.

It seems like we know a lot about her, but to me, this woman is yet to be decrypted.
Complex is her name and mysterious is her favorite game. That is why she is such a good FBI agent.

Future Sex Thomas Beatie

It is really interesting to see all the buzz around Thomas Beatie pregnancy especially after the Oprah’s Tv show appearance. It’s been everywhere, from shocking to sarcastic headlines followed by pictures of a man’s belly expecting a child.

Thomas Beatie pregnant

Thomas and wife admitted being initially cautious about spreading the news as they have faced opposition from family, friends and the medical profession.

Oh, I can see what can be so intriguing. What is really so intriguing (and amazing) is the love and happiness this couple share with the arrival of their first child. The tears of joy on Thomas face are there to prove it. People have issues with that?

All kinds of love should be always celebrated and not turned into a huge controversial judged-by-all topic. Specially on these days and ages.

Equality and Diversity in the Work Place

You know those moments when you catch yourself doing something or thinking something so gay that makes you realize how much gay you are? In the past, I didn’t have those moments so frequently, but as the years go by, I am really surprising myself. In a very queer way.

I am currently working on a Research Paper for school (master) about “Diverse Work Environment and LGBT Issues”. I don’t think I can live anymore without putting everything into an LGBT context. It is so important for me to understand the struggles my community have been through and realize how far we came and how much more still need to be conquered. I honestly feel privileged for not having faced discrimination in the workplace. Most of the times, I have been very open and out spoken about who I am, but for most Americans, there is fear. Equality is still an everyday battle for a lot of gays and lesbians in the workforce.

LGTB Activists

I will be doing a lot of research and I expect to learn a lot. In the mean time, visit Out and Equal website for information about the issue. They are a “pre-eminent national organization devoted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in the workplace”. They have designed a 15 steps guide to those who seek to build a workplace where all individuals know they are equally valued and respected.
