Bravo is queer. Queer is Bravo.
It’s is awesome that Bravo is not shy at all when it comes to portrait gays and lesbians on their reality shows. This past Thursday I witnessed 5 hours of programming with at least 1 open gay participant on per shows on Bravo. Looks like reality shows are thousands years ahead of any fiction show when it comes to GLBT visibility.

Ben and Ronnie on “Make me a Supermodel”
Yesterday, they aired the final for “Make me a Super Model” with out contestant Ronnie among the finalists. Besides being a very charming and proud gay man, Ronnie is also very outspoken about his sexuality and, from the get-go, didn’t hide his attraction to fellow contestant Ben (straight and also very charming man). Bravo explored the relationship dynamic very freely leaving me with the feeling that they just want it to “let it be” whatever it had to be. Of course, Bravo used the theme to make some publicly creating a t-shirt that say “Bronnie” to sell on their website. I think its amazing Bravo is not holding back at all on showing real gays on TV. Sometimes is MUCH better they bad-written scripts for gay and lesbian supporting roles on fictional TV. Give me the real gay storylines!

“Bronnie” t-shirts
Before they aired “Make me a Super model”, they aired 3 episodes in a row of “Top Chef Chicago”. This one has 3 out lesbians competing in the kitchen, being 2 of them a couple! They even showed them laying next to each other in bed. How shocking is that for a reality show about cooking that ultimately targets the general housewife type of audience?
And after “Make me a Super Model” they debut the new competition show “Step it up and Dance”. This one is totally queer! Loved it! The first episode had gay mentions left and right. Gay jokes, gay moves. Fun gay dancers may sound a bit like a big stereotype, but who cares? These people are who they are. And Bravo has no problem letting them be!

Next week, April 15th, guess who is back? Jackie Warner and her empire Strike Back.
Ps) Did I forget to mention “Project Runaway”?
