Women in Tuxedo
So yesterday I received this invitation for a gala wedding next month. Very rich, successful, middle age people, getting married for the second time (they never learn anything) at Donald Trump’s hotel. Even though I couldn’t care less about those heterosexual privileges, this one triggered something I cannot yet define. So wrong, but so intriguing.

And then my mom called me: “Hello darling, did you get the invitation? We need to start looking for a dress.”
The last time I wore a dress I was probably 12. But I kept on listening: “It’s a black-tie wedding, honey.”
“Great, I’m wearing a tux!” And even though my mom’s response was a 5 minutes silence, I was convinced the only way I could be there was wearing black-tie, just like they wanted. I called it women-in-drag-sexy-tux. Genius idea.

So I put together a little retro of fabulous women that pulled of a suit and rocked the world. Please, tell me how right it is for a gay woman like me to wear a tux in a very traditional wedding? C’mon, let’s have some fun and laugh about the looks I’m gonna get. “Mom, are you there?”

Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton and Michelle Paradise

Julie Andrews, Madonna, some model, Annie Lennox, Demi Moore, all in Tux!

Nothing is more sexy than a woman in a tux. Defy your mother and go ahead and wear one. You will look gorgeous and you won’t be feeling self-conscious all evening like you would if you had to wear a dress (or is that just me?).

Bite the bullet and wear a long dress. These dress codes are very established and you’ll feel much less self-conscious wearing the dress and you won’t draw attention away from the couple getting married. Hollywood is not the place to look for formal wear information…

HOT HOT HOT! My girlfriend wore tux as the “best woman” to her brother’s. Both families were very traditional African American families. She did it because it felt comfortable to her. It was sweet, unique, and lovely. She cried during the vows, and explained when some family teased her afterward, “Hey, I’m all woman!” Jesus she’s sweet. Do it, do you, because there’s nothing more beautiful than being how we’re made. Those who can’t see that just miss out. On a lot.
Take care!

OMG….a woman in pants? Next they will want to vote!!!!
If a woman in a tux is enough to distract folks at a fabulous wedding, it is obviously not fabulous enough.
Freedom of dress for all! :)
