California declares you wife and wife

Gay marriage california

Today, California Supreme Court overturned a previous ban of same sex marriage, joining Massachusetts in the list of states that support gay marriage. Finally another step towards equality! One by one we will get there. What happened today in California may have a huge impact in other states, especially in this election years. Let’s hope U.S. elects a pro-gay marriage president to the White House so we can completely distinguish the Church from the State. That is the biggest challenge. A civil right is a civil right and should never be denied. It’s against the constitution and against what this country is supposed to be for. Religion is what stops gay rights from moving forward. Let’s keep those two businesses completely apart please. And let’s give the right to each one of us to decide if we want to put our marriage on paper or not. It’s up to us, not to anyone else. And I want more.

Ps) On an ironic note, looks like Jodie Foster and Cydney Bernard, together for 10+ years and mothers of Charles and Kit, have split up. If that is true, the world is badly made.

What does your T-shirt say?

It wasn’t until very recently that I noticed that WE, lesbians, dykes, femmes, butches, queers and whateverelesyoulike share a very special sense of style for t-shirts with phrases. Even when our mouth is shut, we still wanna say something, right? Or is it just an ice breaker for a conversation? It’s the silent yell!

I’m sure that we’ll always say a little something extra with those shirts. Anyways, let’s let the t-shirt we wear be our wingman!

Madonna French Kissing in Paris

So here she is again. As I’m getting ready to go to NYC to her 50 years old celebration concert in August that, rumors says, is going to be at the Central Park, she is already fired up tongue kissing her (female) dancers and drinking champagne on the stage through out the whole show! Here is a little taste of what to expect of Madonna’s Candy Shop live.

Madonna kissing a dancer in Paris

For those who think this is just another a “desperate seeking publicity” measure, Madonna is and will always be the queen of self promotion and marketing (and that is another reason why I admire her even more), but the thing is, this is not the first time and surely not the last time she will be provocative and “controversial” (for some people). Madonna is the perfect mix of a true free spirit and a business woman and that is her signature. No one knows better than her, and it has been like that for several years. Like a Prayer? S.E.X.? Justify my love? Like a Virgin live in the Blood Ambition tour? Juts Hail to the Queen!

I volunteered for the Human Rights Campaign

Last Thursday I attended my first Human Rights Campaign social event Club Blue. I’ve been contemplating the idea of getting more involved with HRC for a while but after attending the Fort Lauderdale Pride Fest 3 weeks ago, I’ve decided to take the plunge and inform myself on the issues my community is facing now and how I can actively get involved and contribute.

Human Rights Campaign

HRC South Florida Steering Committee is amazing group of volunteers (thanks Tony!) that organize events and meetings that are design to bring out community together and inform we all of what’s the latest in the fight for LGBT rights. Personally, it was a huge wake up call for me. I had no idea how off I was of everything that is going on right now, especially in this election year. I don’t vote. I’m not American. But I am gay and this is my cause.

I signed up to be a HRC volunteer and I have not doubt this was the best decision I made this year. I can’t wait to start, make a different and meet all those awesome super gay people of South Florida!

“Equality is in the heart of everything HRC stands for – an equal opportunity to share in the rights and responsibilities of out society … an equal hope of living free from threat of discrimination”

One thing that was cool about the lesbian story line on Cashmere Mafia

Cashmere Mafia

Finding what is wrong in the lesbian story line on Cashmere Mafia is really easy. Is like finding hair in a guy’s chest. You know it is there and you can even spot it from a distance.

During the 7 episodes that aired back in January, a lot of people, including me, complained about Caitlin story line and they way they were portraying a lesbian relationship. It truly sucked, everybody knows that, but I was able find one positive thing about it and I must say it was an awesome progress.

The birth of a baby lesbian blog

It’s been 1 month now since I started this blog,  (yay!) but I am still wondering what direction to take. A little personality disorder, I must say.

I have to tell you, I have written a couple of personal post as well as funny ones and others more informative. Not quite sure about the personal ones and don’t really think it is fun to keep up with the news 24-7. So I asking my fellow readers, what kind of post you like the best:

  1. Personal is cool as long as you make a fool of yourself or has a really inspiring story to share.

PDK is Public Display of KISSING

It’s great to go to Pride Fest. You get to see, learn and meet so many cool and crazy people, its good times guaranteed.

PDK

One thing I got to find out at Pride that I absolutely loved (to the point that I kissed my boy friend) was the PDK campaign. The idea of this is to cover up the world thousands of gay kisses. You kiss, they take a picture and upload to an interactive world map that pinpoints all the locations where the kisses happened.

The rules are: the kiss has to be public and has to be on display. For every picture, PDK campaign donates $1 to charity. I even kissed a boy, due to the lack of appropriate resources. Sometimes you have to make do. Anything for charity, baby.

More Work Out drama tonight

Last episode of Work Out was so over scripted that I could swear I was watching an episode of Friends, much less funnier of course and much more tragic. C’mon, they had 4 scenes that involved eating (double date dinner, dinner at Jesse’s house, the lunch to gossip about Brianna and the cocktail-clothing line launching).

Besides those awesome scenes, the timing was surreal for reality TV. Jackie and Brianna waking up? No comments. Greg P. taking the elevator and walking in the gym while all the trainers were gossiping about the magazine he is on the cover? Jackie introducing her new girlfriend that already lives with her to her trainers/friends? What? Was she hiding the girl somewhere nobody could find? It just looks like everything was set up to create the tension and the drama … and the gossip, of course.

Boys, move over! The Lady is coming through!

I remember watching the Indianapolis 500 years back (2005), when Danica Patrick was still kind of a rookie. On that day, she took the lead in the race near the end and everybody was on their feet to watch the first woman to lead a Indy race in history. What a rush of adrenaline! She ended up finishing in fourth, but nobody ever forgot to watch out for her on the tracks!

Danica Patrick Victory

Finally, this Sunday, with only 3 laps to go, Danica took the lead and won Indy Japan 300, making history being the first woman to win an Indycar race.

The thing is, it doesn’t really matter if you are into car races or not (I am totally into that having been in one in my home country), seeing a woman’s victory for the first time in a sport that the only thing you see around is men, men, men and more men, is a big deal. You can notice that by reading some commentaries in the press today and by the way the ESPN narrated her victory:
